STOCKTON — Former San Joaquin County Supervisor Carlos Villapudua has been hired to be CEO of the San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber announced Tuesday. He begins his job Jan. 17.
“He brings extensive experience and talents to our organization and will work closely with our members and partners in the community to focus on our mission of creating a stronger and sustainable local economy through advocacy and promotion on behalf of our members and businesses within the region,” said Chamber President Bob Gutierrez. “His wealth of experience as a previously elected official in the area speaks to his ability to engage both the private and public sectors in creating opportunities and advocating for our members and Latino-owned businesses throughout the County to more effectively and successfully thrive in their business ventures.”
Villapudua was elected to represent San Joaquin County’s first district in 2009 and held his seat for eight years.
Before that, Villapudua was legislative assistant to former Supervisor Steve Gutierrez and held director positions with the San Joaquin County Human Services Agency and the Welfare-to-Work CalWORKs Program.
Villapudua was born in Stockton and graduated from Franklin High School. He and earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from California State University Sacramento. He has a daughter, Loreal.
