MODESTO — Business owners, community leaders and residents will get a chance to learn about efforts to promote downtown Modesto during the first State of Downtown Modesto event, April 14.
The event, presented by the Downtown Modesto Partnership, will include presentations by its CEO Josh Bridegroom and Modesto Police Chief Galen Carroll. There will also be a panel discussion featuring four downtown Modesto business and nonprofit leaders.
Bridegroom update the community on the DoMo Partnership’s efforts to create a safer and cleaner environment as well as new events. A “First Friday Street Faire” will launch in May and will bring together vendors, crafts booths, food and entertainment at Tenth Street Plaza on the first Friday night of every month. He also will provide highlights of the partnership’s 2017 strategic plan.
Carroll will share tips with property and business owners about what they can do to prevent property crimes at their shops by using “environmental design techniques.”
The event will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Foster Family Theater at the Gallo Center for the Arts. Admission is free, but space is limited. Those interested are asked to RSVP at the domopartership.org/sod2017 by April 10. Coffee and pastries will be provided.
